What is the Memphis School Leader Collaborative (MSLC)?
TLAC’s Memphis School Leader Collaborative (MSLC) is an initiative in which leadership teams from high-capacity schools within the Memphis community convene to study and implement effective instructional and school leadership practices in an area of opportunity. The goal of our MSLC is to help leaders define their instructional priorities and vision, and to help them accelerate their organizations’ progress towards achieving them. In the next school year, we are excited to continue helping MSLC instructional leaders from across Memphis achieve their goals of improving student outcomes in math.
What is our approach?
The 2025-2026 MSLC will continue to improve math outcomes for students via the implementation of our shared Lesson Delivery Model across our partners’ math departments, but will employ an adjusted approach to services, informed by the lessons we have learned over the collaborative’s life cycle. These adjustments are designed to accelerate partner readiness to navigate challenges in their context and, ultimately, increase student proficiency across the collaborative.
These adjustments will include:
returning to the direct development of a campus anchor teacher alongside an instructional leader to ensure each school has a bright spot classroom for internal study and replication
an increase in volume of direct feedback on partner implementation via a changed approach to our school visit model
systematizing the regular collection of implementation data to provide specificity to feedback and strategic planning exercises with school leadership teams
adjusting our opportunities for collaborative learning via group video study and coaching dynamics
bolstering schools’ infrastructural capacity to carry on the work via practice-based PD and math-specific lesson preparation systems
leveraging "legacy MSLC partners" to serve as an early model of implementation for study and replicating best practices
How will we use this hub to support our work together?
As members of the MSLC, this hub will provide you with access to an extensive TLAC's library of curated resources, artifacts, PD materials, and videos designed by the MSLC Team and members of the collaborative. These resources are designed to help you learn from and alongside one another as you work to achieve your instructional priorities during this school year and beyond.
