Key Idea: The Teacher Development Cycle (TDC) has been the MSLC Team's prevailing approach for supporting our Memphis partners with rapidly improving the development of teachers and impacting key student performance metrics in alignment with partnership priorities/goals.
Four Phases:
Phase 1 – Train on Instructional Priorities: The Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) provides curriculum-embedded, practice-based professional learning on instructional priorities throughout the year to accelerate the development of instructional leaders and teachers.
Phase 2 – Coach Instructional Priorities in Lesson Preparation: The Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) coaches teachers on applying instructional priorities to their lesson preparation during 1:1 lesson prep meetings, grade-level prep meetings, PLCs, or feedback meetings.
Phase 3 – Observe Instructional Priorities and Provide Feedback: The Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) formally (and informally) observes execution of instructional priorities to determine efficacy of implementation during lesson execution and provides feedback to improve teacher practice on those instructional priorities.
Phase 4 – Monitor Progress and ID Trends: The Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) studies key teacher and student performance indicators to monitor the impact of instructional priorities, including bright spots to uplift/replicate and areas of opportunity to inform future training and supports.
